Europe Itinerary

1st CouchSurf experience in Life

CouchSurfing basically means living in a local home in a foreign country. It's designed for adventurous people who dunno-why believing in a total stranger and have experience living together for a period of time.

Konstantinos, a Greek surfer in Heraklion, happens to become our 1st host in our trip, and very likely to be the best one.

4 days living with him is a breeze. He drives us, taking us to the best local restaurants (unlikely to be those expensive ones), and have us in his own house with all things that we need.
I wish there are Konstatinos all over Europe. And yes. The video shown explains the possibility that im visiting Crete again in the future. Just. For. The. White. Chocolate.
Konstantinos gave us unique greek cuisine experience that couldnt be find in ANY tourist guides, Probably the most relax days of our trip. I cant stop thinking about the fooooood that we had these days.

I've never thought of travelling in such a in depth way. Living with local people, spent time with them, talk to them in such close-distance and personal way, know their customs and daily philosophy more personally. It was surely exceptional. I don't think I'll be doing this kind of travelling later on in my life. Therefore, I'll treasure what I'm experiencing in these 3 months.

Greece, 4 more days and we're done here. It was really a pause for people like us who used to live in a big city. During these 2 weeks, we didn't see people hurrying to work, we don't see traffic jam, we don't hear noisy music, no buses and people waiting in lines for ATM. We hear ocean, we feel the breezing wind, we see people sitting out in the cafe just chatting, we lose the sense of time.

upcoming will be a whole new experience, Rome. I'm excited to visit all the old masters' works, paying tribute to their foot steps.

I didn't paint as much as I expected, unfortunately. But I'll sure do so for Italy and others countries.

Good Friday

Its Good Friday today and we stayed in hostel for basically the entire day because all things are closed for the day.
Fook went to paint and i stayed for trip planning and web updates.
We witness Santorini from quiet to crowded, people come to this little island to take a break for Easter holiday.
Our hostel owner says most shops & rests are closed for the Big Day (this is how greeks call it) but not hostels. Not that they dont want to but they need to take care of the tourists, like us.
They will go to a mass at 9pm tonight, so the reception closes by then.

So we tourists spoil a Friday, whereas it should have been His day.
Due that there is nothing in the area, we are kind of trapped in the hostel for the day as it is so far from the town centre, Fira.

At night we watch the "Joan of Arc" in Greek subtitles.
In the movie, in my todays observation, i keep thinking, wts wrong with us that we keep ourselves that busy?

To the degree tht we even spoil a quiet day of the Greeks.
It was hymn he was playing in his shuttle this morning, sounded like a bell ring to me.
So i pray, for everything.

In the photo, there was a giant ferry sailed by and left down a umm...yeah u know wt it is from the pic; So in tht scene i think, are we so busy that we kept sailing without turning our heads up, hear a bell ring from the cross?
It was far away from the sea indeed, but the cross were everywhere.
Close your eyes and find, and u will see it.
